Four Win Individual Awards, Five Named to HAAC All-Conference

Michael Olson, Marko Jovanovic, David Rudic, and Head Coach Tom Young won individual awards as the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced the 2025 all-conference teams. The Spartans additionally had five named to All-HAAC teams.
 
The conference named Olson a Co-Player of the Year and to the first team with career-highs in kills per set (3.59), hitting percentage (.310), aces (40), and total blocks (53.0). The graduate student from Wildwood, Mo., was additionally third in the HAAC in total kills with 348. He earned Heart Attacker of the Week on Feb. 24 after hitting .450 with 31 kills in a pair of matches and followed up the next month on March 24 with a second weekly award.
 
Jovanovic was in second place in total kills with 352 and was named the Attacker of the Year and to the all-conference first team. The 2024 Heart Libero of the Year made the transition to an outside hitter in 2025 and posted 3.59 kills per set over 98 sets, 41 service aces, and 35 total blocks.
 
Senior David Rudic was named the conference Setter of the Year for the first time in his career, along with a selection to the first team. Rudic is second in the NAIA at 10.97 assists per set, won four conference Setter of the Week awards, and two NAIA Setter of the Week awards. On Feb. 12, in a five-set win over No. 10 Missouri Valley College, he tallied 54 assists which sent him over 3,000 in his career.
 
Tom Young earned his first career Heart Coach of the Year award after leading the Spartans to a 24-4 overall record and a share of the HAAC Regular Season title at 17-2. He also has the Spartans ranked third in the nation in kills per set (13.47), assists per set (12.60), and sixth in total service aces. This is Young's third career award, winning the AMC/GPAC/KCAC Coach of the Year and the AVCA Coach of the Year in 2019 after MBU went 31-1 overall.
 
On the HAAC Second Team for the second time in his career was Veljko Culibrk. The junior from Novi Sad, Serbia, currently sits fourth in the nation in blocks per set at 1.24 and has posted career highs in total blocks (113) and service aces (37). He was chosen for a pair of Heart Defender of the Week awards in 2025 and won NAIA Defender of the Week on March 11.
 
Lastly, senior Michael Anderson earned a selection as an honorable mention for his performance at the net this season. The Kirkwood, Mo., native had a career year with 1.41 kills per set, a .406 hitting percentage, and 81 total blocks.
 
The Spartans finished the season 17-2 in HAAC play, tied with Missouri Valley College for the top mark in the league. After tiebreakers, MBU will enter the HAAC Championship Tournament as the No. 2 seed and will play seventh-seeded Dordt University in the quarterfinals on Saturday, April 12, in the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC at 1 p.m.
