FRESHMAN GRAPPLER SHINES FOR MISSOURI BAPTIST

OSKALOOSA, IOWA - Missouri Baptist University freshman Andrew Johnson-Carter finished in fourth-place in the 174lb weight class at the William Penn Open over the weekend as the Spartan men's wrestling team continued its strong season.

Missouri Baptist, currently ranked 13th in the NAIA poll, had four wrestlers place in the top six. Detorious Prayther, a junior in the 125lb class, finished fourth while fellow Spartan Lucas Keene reached the semifinals, but finished sixth at 197 pounds due to an injury default.

The top performer on the day for MBU, however, was sophomore Weston Keleher. The Mizzou transfer finished second at 184 pounds, continuing a tremendous season. While Keleher was at the top of his game, the real story was Carter. The Parkway West graduate competed at a high level in Iowa and showed that he could have a bright future in the coming years. "AJ looked like a different kid out there and his performance motivated the entire team," said Spartan Head Coach, Brian Jackson.

The Spartans will be back at it next Saturday at the Cumberland Open before returning home the following week for a dual with former NAIA school, McKendree University.
