ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist men's wrestling had a long night on the mat in the team's final home dual of the 2013-14 season. The NCAA Division II, No. 18-ranked Maryville Saints, had their way with the Spartans in a commanding 49-0 win on Thursday night.

Missouri Baptist began the dual with the 184lb bout and had issues from that point forward. Maryville's Nick Burghardt took down MBU's Easton Simmons to give the visitors a quick 6-0 lead.

The Maryville advantage quickly became 12 as Morgan Denson won in a forfeit to set-up the heavyweight class bout. Julius Anglikas, the No. 16-ranked wrestler in the NAIA, put-up a solid opposition to NCAA Division II, No. 5-ranked Donnell Walker, but was unable to get the win. Walker defeated Anglikas 11-6 to post three more points for Maryville and give his team a 15-point lead.

Wrestling down a weight class, Chris Padilla tried to steal a bout at 125lbs, but ran into a tough customer in Brandon Oshiro. The senior from Hawaii gave Padilla, the No. 9-ranked wrestler at 133lbs in the NAIA, all he could handle and grabbed an 8-2 decision for the visitors.

Consecutive wins by fall by Darick Lapaglia and Joey Moorhouse over Jerry Kennedy and Marty Rubalcaba extended the Saints' lead to 30-0 and put the dual out of reach for the Spartans.

One of the most intriguing matchups came at 165lbs as Cameron Ream faced-off against NCAA Division II, No. 3-ranked, Dimitri Willis. Ream carried a 6-2 lead into the second period, but things quickly turned for the MBU senior as Willis came back to post a 23-11 major decision win.

Thursday night was also senior night as the team's four seniors, Ream, Rubalcaba, Padilla and Anglikas. All made their way into the lineup. The team will now have a two-week rest before heading to the NAIA regionals on Feb. 22, 2014.
