ST. LOUIS – [RESULTS] Missouri Baptist men's wrestling took-on one of the best competitors it has seen all season in Maryville University and took its lumps just down the road. The Spartans fell to the NCAA D-II, No. 1-ranked Saints 46-0 on Thursday night.
Missouri Baptist dropped one of its toughest duals of the season to the best team that it has seen since its dual against NCAA D-I, No. 2-ranked Missouri in the Fall semester.
Thursday's dual began at 174 and Maryville came out firing from the outset with a big win by Fall. Zeb Wahle defeated Windsor Eaves in that first bout to take an early 6-0 lead.
Not much changed for Missouri Baptist throughout the night as the Saints rattled-off 10-straight wins to grab its first, and only, shutout of the season.
The closest bout came at 133lbs as Aaron Hane nearly outlasted Dakota Bauer, but the Maryville sophomore held-on to take the 9-8 win and the three team points.
The Spartans will now travel to Iowa for the Briar Cliff Open on Saturday.
