Brian Jackson

Brian Jackson has been head coach of the Missouri Baptist men's and women's wrestling programs since 2005. Under Jackson's direction, the Spartans have consistently been ranked among the NAIA's Top 25 teams and have cracked the Top 10 on two separate occasions (2011-12 & 2012-13). Additionally, Missouri Baptist logged its first Top-10 finish at the 2012 NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championships.

With Coach Jackson at the helm, the Spartan men have totaled 19 NAIA All-Americans with four bronze medals. Most recently, Jackson and his staff coached freshman Owen Braungardt to an AMC title and third-place finish at the 2020 NAIA National Championships. In the classroom, the Spartans were named an NWCA Scholar All-American Team with the 11th-highest team GPA (3.21) among 68 NAIA schools.

The 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons also stick out for Coach Jackson and his programs. In 2007-08, the Spartans had their strongest finish in school history producing three All-Americans and scoring more points than any other team in the school's history at the National Tournament. In 2009, Jackson and the Spartans took down the Nos. 2- and 3-ranked teams in back-to-back duals. In that same year, Jackson received Coach of the Year honors.

As for the MBU women’s wrestling program, the Spartans compete as a member of the NAIA and Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association (WCWA). Under Coach Jackson, the Spartan women’s program has produced 4 WCWA national champions, a pair of Top-5 team finishes and several All-Americans. The women’s program, which Jackson launched in 2008, continues to grow and shine along the way with recent national champions in Cheyenne Youngblood (2017) and Dymond Guilford (2019).

Prior to Missouri Baptist, Jackson's coaching resume included stops as an assistant coach at Campbell University, Meramec Community College and Lindenwood University.

On the mat himself, Jackson was a four-time All-American, two-time college finalist and National Champion. He was an NCAA Division I All-American at North Carolina State University. He received his Master of Arts in Business from Lindenwood University.

Coach Jackson has three sons: twins Tanner and Jacobi, and Jaren.
