This week's Spartan Athlete of the Week is men's indoor track and field standout, Alex Chavez. The freshman won the 3000M race walk on Saturday at the Unites States Track and Field Ozark Meet. He blew away the competition, finishing a full three minutes ahead of the field.

In addition, Chavez crushed the national qualifying time of 14:00, by finishing with a time of 12:55. The finish made the race walker the first of the season to become a national qualifier.
