ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist trailed from start to finish on Wednesday afternoon against the No. 18-ranked Oklahoma City Stars and were upset on the road 25-10.
Missouri Baptist had difficulty against a talented Oklahoma City squad as both teams were in a fight to maintain position in the national rankings.
Missouri Baptist picked-up three victories on the night, all by nationally ranked wrestlers. At 133lbs, No. 7-ranked Chris Padilla continued an impressive season with a dominant 19-4 tech fall win over OCU's Alvie Killingsworth.
Weston Keleher, the big senior at 184lbs, was the next to put points on the board for Missouri Baptist. Keleher won a 12-6 decision over Derek Sivertsen and cut the lead to 22-7. The Moberly, Mo., native is currently ranked No. 8 in the nation.
Finally, in the heavyweight bout, Julius Anglikas defeated OCU's Destin Theus 13-6 to finish the night on a high note for the Spartans. Anglikas is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation.
MBU will have the Thanksgiving weekend off before heading back to the mat the following weekend at the Maryville University, Kauffman Brands Open, on Sat. Dec. 7.
