ST.LOUIS [RESULTS] - The Missouri Baptist men's wrestling team suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday night. The Spartans squared off against the Williams Baptist Eagles who competed in the program's first dual in school history.  The Spartans were looking to jumpstart the season with a victory, but fell just short, and lost to the rookie wrestling program by a final of 19-18.

Missouri Baptist started the night off with three straight wins by decision in the 157, 165, and 174 weight classes to take a 9-0 lead.  Elmer Francisco (157) won a narrow 2-0 decision over Willie Wright. Matthew Behr (169) won 9-3 over Keion McVay, and Andrew Carter-Johnson picked up the victory over Connor Linehan, 8-2.

The Eagles answered back with the programs first ever match victory, when Tyler Dibert won by decision over Jeff Brock in the 184 weight class. In the 197 weight class, Josh Chiles from Williams Baptist won by decision, 8-2, to cut the Spartan lead to 9-6. In the Heavyweight weight class, Louis Contreras pinned Roger Moe to extend the MBU lead to 15-6.

The Eagles would not give up however. Demarcus Gurlly fell to Isaiha Johnson by decision, 7-6 in the 125 weight class. Troy Reed then lost by major decision to Dylan Graham in the 133 weight class, which cut the Spartan lead down to 15-13. Aaron Hane defeated Dante Padilla by decision in the 141 weight class to put MBU up 18-13 with only one match left. Patrick Grigsby pinned Tyler Klinckhammer in the 149 weight class to give Williams Baptist the one point victory over Missouri Baptist by a final of 19-18. This marked the very first win for Williams Baptist in the very first dual they competed in.

The Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday, November 5th when they host Lyon College. The Dual is set to begin at 7pm.
