MBU SHUT-OUT BY PRIVATEERS, TIGERS

ST. LOUIS – [UNIV. OF NEW ORLEANS RESULTS] [LSU RESULTSMissouri Baptist Sand Volleyball finished a tough weekend of play at the Pelican Classic on Saturday. The Spartans again faced two tough NCAA Division I opponents and lost 5-0 to both University of New Orleans (La.) and Louisiana State University.

Missouri Baptist (0-10) began the day without one of its top players, so the "next woman up" mentality came into play as Mallory Dillon and Marion Couraud moved to the No. 1 slot and Alli Schmerbach got her second consecutive start at No. 5.

Couraud and Dillon played right with their opponent, but were not quite able to close the door in a set. The pair lost 21-16, 21-19, but showed their versatility and capability to be able to fill-in on the top spot.

In the second match of the day, this time against the LSU Tigers, the Spartans got another close-up look at big time college beach volleyball and were shut out.

The Tigers held the Spartans to single-digit point totals in seven of the 10 sets played. The Spartans, however, did get solid play, yet again, from Couraud and Dillon. It was the duo's third match of the season, and third of the weekend, in the No. 1 slot.

The Spartans will now return home to face Principia in its first home dual of the season. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
