Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS – [GAME 1 BOX] [GAME 2 BOX] Missouri Baptist Baseball made quick work of the Morthland Patirots on Monday in the first midweek series of the season. After a 16-1 win, the Spartans followed-up the performance with a dominant 21-0 win against the second year program in Southern Illinois.
Missouri Baptist (14-6, 2-1 AMC) took control in the first inning of game one with a nine-run outburst and never looked back.
Hector Candeleria notched his first round-tripper of the year in the first inning, a three-run shot, to make it a 7-0 game. Second baseman Josh Miguel went later, his first, as the Spartans rolled to the first win of the day.
Austin Rieman led the offense in the first game. The designated hitter went 3-3 with six RBI and a double. Tim Hergert, Brian Poupore and Daniel Bradley all recorded a multi-hit game as well.
The Spartans came out firing on all cylinders in game two as well. MBU posted four in the first and a 12-spot in the fourth to secure its 14th win of the year.
The Spartans hit .586 in game two as they crushed four doubles and two triples in the win.
Hergert and Tyler Greminger combined for eight of the team's 19 RBI in the victory.
The Spartans will now have a few days off before heading west to Fulton, Mo., to take on William Woods (Mo.). First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
