ST. LOUIS – [RESULTS] Men's Wrestling ended the home portion of its season by picking up a conference win over Central Baptist. The Spartans defeated the Mustangs 39-15 in front of the home fans Wednesday night.
In a dual that saw just four total bouts, three went the Spartans way. Central Baptist forfeited 125, 149, 165 and 174, while MBU was open at 141 and 157.
Michael Moncivais battled Ben Freeman deep into the final round before pinning him for six Spartan points. At 184, Ryan Thomas also pinned his opponent, Matt Jones, deep into the match to up the MBU lead to 36-12.
Esteban Rua lost a close 3-2 decision at 197, but Cory Flemming picked him up in the heavyweight match. Flemming battled back to force sudden death and won in the overtime period by a 3-1 decision. Clayton Wegener also dominated in an exhibition contest at 157 to end the night.
The Spartans compete this weekend at the Missouri Valley Invite.
