ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Men's Basketball overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to knock off (RV) William Woods 57-56 in Fulton on Thursday night.
The Spartans started slow for the second consecutive game as they scored a season-low 21 points in the first half. Neither team showed much, however, as the Owls shot just 38% as a team compared to Missouri Baptist's 31%.
But just as they did last Saturday against Culver-Stockton, the Spartans rallied in the second half. This time it was Jahmouri Robinson who took the reins. The sophomore made 5-9 from the field for 12 points while also adding five steals. Robinson would finish the game 9-17 with 20 points to lead MBU.
The Spartans chipped away at the deficit and finally erased it completely with just under 10 minutes to go in the game. A three from James McKelvin gave the Spartans a 47-46 lead, their first lead since 2-0.
William Woods hung tough. The Owls had a chance to win it at the buzzer but Ray White's shot rimmed out. The Spartans survived and improved to 8-0 overall, 3-0 in the AMC.
Missouri Baptist will look to keep the streak alive when they face Harris-Stowe on Saturday. Tip at the Hornet's Nest is scheduled for 3 pm.
