ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University eSports team had a successful run in this past weekend's Collegiate Star League Fortnite Qualifier. Like the others that the Spartans have competed in, the tournament had a single elimination, best 2-of-3 format.
Â
The duo of Ben Rudin and
Nick Sailer made a deep run in the tournament and was the last group standing among MBU's Fortnite teams. Rudin and Sailer won their first four matches dropping just one game along the way before their streak was broken by Ryerson University, 2-0. During the run, Rudin and Sailer defeated Illinois Institute of Technology, Northwestern University, Northeastern University and Rochester Institute of Technology.
Â
Also having a great stretch during the Qualifier was the team of
Alex Breznenik and
Ryan Green, who also picked up multiple wins on the day. They defeated McMaster University (2-0) out of Ontario, Canada, Gogebic Community College (Mich.) (2-1) and Penn State University (2-0). Brezenik and Green's run ended with a 2-0 defeat to Simon Fraser University.
Â
Also competing for the Spartans on Saturday were
Clay Sympson and
Tyler Lewis. It was a quick one-and-done for the Spartan duo as they dropped a competitive match to Ashland University by a score of 2-0.
