WOODFALL, CASTILLO LEAD SPARTANS OVER PIRATES 71-56

Parkville, Mo. – [RESULTS]  Missouri Baptist men's basketball remains unbeaten, defeating Park 71-56 on Saturday afternoon. Kai Woodfall and Jesus Castillo led the offense as they went on to defeat their AMC foe by 15.

The Spartans got off to a slow start in the first as they found themselves tied with Park 10-10 after five minutes of play.

The game would remain tied until 14:02 when Jesus Castillo took a pass from Kai Woodfall and dropped a three to make it 13-10. Woodfall followed that up with a three of his own 20 seconds later.

Castillo and Woodfall's hot shooting from deep would spark an 11-2 run in the middle of the half that gave the Spartans some breathing room. MBU closed the half strong and headed to the locker room with a 34-26 halftime lead.

MBU kept the offense sizzling into the beginning of the second half, quickly doubling their lead four minutes in. Things would continue to fall in the Spartans' favor, pushing their lead up to 20 at one point in the half. With little resistance from the Pirates, the Spartans went on to defeat them 71-56 on the road.

The offense, led by Woodfall (21 points) and Castillo (15 points), shot 52 percent from deep and 44 percent from the field. Torrance Littles and Pablo Hernandez were also notable, collecting six rebounds each and double-digit point totals.

Spartan defense also stepped up in a big way, holding Park shooters to just 23 percent from three. Nobody on the Pirate bench had more than nine points on the day.

Next up on the road trip will be Lindenwood University on Monday in an exhibition game at 7 p.m.
