ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University eSports team had a busy weekend with multiple matches spanning across two different games including League of Legends and Fortnite.
The Spartans' League of Legends team continued its schedule within the Collegiate Star League (CSL) Preseason Tournament on Saturday. Taking on a familiar opponent in San Diego State University, Missouri Baptist defeated the Aztecs by a score of 2-1. Two weeks back, the Spartans beat SDSU in the AVGL Community LoL Tournament, 1-0. Between the AVGL Community Tournament and the CSL Preseason Tournament, MBU is 4-4 overall with a .500 winning percentage. The Spartans will finish up the CSL Preseason Tournament this Saturday at 2 p.m. when they take on Columbia College-Chicago.

MBU had two teams competing in the CSL Fortnite Qualifier #2. In a best-of-three format, the Spartans' first team of Ben Rudin and
Nick Sailer squared off with a duo from Penn State University, but came up short in a 2-0 loss.

The team of
Alex Breznenik and
Ryan Green had plenty of success on Saturday as they picked up the eSports program's first Fortnite win by defeating University of Illinois with a 2-0 sweep. They were not done there as they picked up two more victories taking down UC Davis, 2-0, and University of Victoria, 2-1. Breznenik and Green's successful run ended with a 2-0 loss to Carleton University.
