ST. LOUIS –
Ben Rudin and
Nick Sailer etched their names in the record books this weekend becoming the first Missouri Baptist University Fortnite team to win a Collegiate Star League (CSL) Qualifier. The duo, which has been on a roll lately, navigated its way through the season's fourth Fortnite Qualifier event (best-of-3) defeating six teams en route to a tournament championship.
Rudin and Sailer swept five of their six opponents, 2-0, and dropped just one game over the weekend. Along the way, the Spartans defeated UC Berkeley, UC Riverside, Kennesaw State University and East Carolina University. In the semifinals, Rudin and Sailer defeated Northeastern University by a score of 2-1 before finishing off the championship run with a 2-0 sweep of Ryerson University out of Ontario, Canada.
On the year, Rudin and Sailer have combined for an overall record of 10-2.
By winning Qualifier #4, Rudin and Sailer advance to the Collegiate Star League Fortnite Stage 2, which begins March 9, 2019. Stage 2 is a double-elimination tournament consisting of the top four teams from all eight Qualifier events. Should Rudin and Sailer rank among the top four in Stage 2, they would then advance to the CSL Fortnite Finals.
Also competing in the Fortnite Qualifier #4 was Clatyon Sympson and
Tyler Lewis, who dropped a tough match to Southern New Hampshire University, 2-1, and
Alex Breznenik and
Ryan Green who fell to University of Victoria in their first and only match, 2-0.
