ST. LOUIS –
[BOX GAME ONE] [BOX GAME TWO] After a shaky start to the season, Missouri Baptist claimed their first two wins in convincing fashion. The Spartans took down Mount Mercy 14-0 and College of the Ozarks 11-2.

The Spartans started the first game with a bang, plating nine runs, on six hits. and one error. This first inning onslaught was fueled by a two-run home run from junior,
Jonathon Pasillas, and a three-run home run by junior,
Drew Brooks.

Bobby Strahan kept the offense rolling with an RBI single to right field that brought home
Jonathon Pasillas in the top of the 3
rd inning.
General McArthur followed that RBI single with an RBI single of his own, plating
Tommy Nawa to give Missouri Baptist a commanding 11-0 lead.

The rout continued into the top of the fifth inning when a
Caleb Dean double brought home two more runs. Another run would be added in the top of the sixth at the hands of a
Tyler Schmidt double.

While the offense took center stage,
Robby Brewster went to work firing five solid innings. The senior gave up no earned runs, one walk, and two hits while striking out six.
Jorge Jimenez and
Tyler Schmidt closed the door in the final two innings, striking out four batters on one hit and no runs allowed. The Spartans earned their first win of the season with a 14-0 final score.

In game two, the Spartan offense picked up where it left off scoring a 1
st inning run on
Gabriel Castillo's first home run of the season. The solo shot gave Missouri Baptist a 1-0 lead.

In the second inning, a pair of RBI ground outs by
Jonathon Pasillas and
John Hagan brought home two runs to put the Spartans up by three.
Gabriel Castillo would hit his second home run of the game in the top of the third inning to continue the offensive explosion.

Mason Washington led off the top of the 4
th with a home run of his own, his first of the season. Two more runs would be tacked on in the 5
th.

The Bobcats answered in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runs when Jay Kaufman doubled home Zachary Ford, followed by an RBI single from Kole Kelley. This would halt the Spartan pitching staff's shutout streak at 13 innings.

Missouri Baptist stayed hot into the seventh inning when
General McArthur led off the frame with a home run to left field. Four Bobcat errors would give the Spartans three more runs before the end of the inning.

Gary Watkins led the way on the mound putting up six innings while only surrendering two runs on five hits.
Hayden Crowe closed the game out in the 7
th, striking out two hitters.

The Spartans will look to continue the season turnaround on Saturday when they play another doubleheader against Mount Mercy and College of the Ozarks. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
