MEN'S TENNIS UPENDED BY (RV) LINDENWOOD-BELLEVILLE
RESULTS
BELLEVILLE, Ill. – There were some hard-fought matches, particularly in doubles action, but in the end, (RV) Lindenwood University-Belleville proved to be too much for the Missouri Baptist University men's tennis team in a 9-0 sweep Tuesday afternoon in Belleville.
Missouri Baptist, which fell to 1-6 overall, started off strong and nearly took away points from the Lynx at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. The duo of
James Tobin and
Ricardo Martin went beyond regulation finishing No. 1 singles with a narrow loss of 9-8 (5). No. 2 doubles also remained close throughout the contest with
Dylan Walker and
Lucas Lobao stealing five games away from Lindenwood-Belleville's No. 2 pair.
The Lynx, who were receiving votes in the latest NAIA Men's Tennis Top 25 Poll, also had their hands full with the top singles positions. Tobin lost 6-2, 6-4 to LU-B's Juan Pablo Herrera at No. 1 singles,
Dylan Walker fell at No. 2 to LU-B's Horacio Callirgos, 6-4, 6-4, and Lobao suffered a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 3 singles.
The Spartans will be back in action tomorrow at 12 p.m. against Heart of America opponent Baker University. The match will be played at the Creve Coeur Racquet Club.
