WOMEN'S TENNIS DOMINANT IN 9-0 ROUT OF LINDENWOOD-BELLEVILLE
RESULTS
BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The Missouri Baptist University women's tennis team won in convincing fashion Tuesday at Lindenwood University-Belleville. For the fourth time in as many matches, the Spartans came home with a 9-0 sweep, and pushed their winning streak to six with the victory over the Lynx.
Reigning AMC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Tamara Klimek and
Krista Tyson won eight of the 12 games at No. 1 doubles. Upperclassmen
Dani Stevenson and
Thais Castiglioni fared just as well at No. 2 doubles defeating their opponents, 8-3.
Emily Brown and
Hannah Chaney secured an 8-2 victory over Nahir Montoya and Gabby Gibson of Lindenwood-Belleville.
Both Klimek and Tyson cruised to straight set wins at Nos. 1 and 3 singles, respectively. Castiglioni won 12 out of 13 games in her match at No. 2 single, while
Geena Novelly surrendered just two games at the No. 6 spot. Brown also claimed a perfect set within singles defeating Lynx No. 5 player Janaki Kamalanathan, 6-3, 6-0. Rounding out the competition was
Dani Stevenson who still won handily, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
Up next for the Spartans is Baker University at home tomorrow at 12 p.m. at the Creve Coeur Racquet Club. The visiting Wildcats are 6-3 on the year.
