WOMEN'S TENNIS REACHES 10-WIN MARK, TOPS FHU, 7-0
RESULTS
HENDERSON, Tenn. – Following two straight matches that were 5-4 and down-to-the-wire, Missouri Baptist University women's tennis finally had some breathing room. In fact, the Spartans won all of the matches they played and breezed past upstart program Freed-Hardeman University, 7-0.
With Friday's road victory, Missouri Baptist moved to 10-2 on the year and increased its winning streak to eight.
Tamara Klimek and
Krista Tyson continue to be a force at No. 1 doubles as they defeated Selinde Tatum and Emaleigh Board, 8-3.
Dani Stevenson and
Emily Brown earned an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while
Thais Castiglioni and
Elizabeth Siegfried received a win by default with no opponents at the No. 3 position.
From the get-go, the singles competition was halved with MBU's Siegfried getting a win by default at No. 6 and two unfinished decisions for
Tamara Klimek (No. 1) and Rafaea Davide (No. 5).
The Spartans who did compete in singles play had little trouble picking up wins. Castiglioni won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, Brown defeated Ali Ann Russell, 6-1, 6-1, and
Krista Tyson registered the straight-set victory over FHU's Jennifer Beckham.
Next up for the Spartans is Fontbonne University on Thursday at the Creve Coeur Racquet Club at 3 p.m. Thursday's match versus the Griffins will serve as Senior Day for both Missouri Baptist tennis squads.
