O'FALLON, MO. – Missouri Baptist Baseball posted 12 early runs and closed out Culver-Stockton College after just seven innings on Tuesday afternoon. The contest was played at CarShield Field in O'Fallon, Mo.
The day began with a four-run first for the Spartans. The highlight was a two-RBI single from
Caleb Dean which scored
DeShawn Lookout and
Drew Brooks.
The Wildcats got on the board in the second but it didn't take long for the Spartans to break it open in the bottom of the frame. 11 MBU hitters came to the plate in the inning with all nine position players reaching base at least once.
After run-scoring hits from Lookout,
Sid Kumar,
Anthony Enwiya, and
Michael McGhee,
General McArthur put a bow on the inning with a two-run homer to left field.
That would be it for the offense as the Spartan pitching staff locked things down the rest of the way.
Gary Watkins made the start and delivered five strong innings. The senior allowed just one run on four hits to earn the win.
Culver-Stockton scored one in the seventh but it wasn't enough to elude the 10-run after seven rule. The day ended early with the final score 12-2 in favor of the Spartans.
Missouri Baptist improved to 7-5 with the victory. The Spartans will return to AMC action on Thursday when they visit William Woods. Start times and locations have been adjusted to account for inclement weather in Fulton, Mo. over the weekend.
