19 MBU PROGRAMS NAMED AS NAIA SCHOLAR TEAMS

Women's Tennis (seen here at last year's Hall of Fame banquet) finished highest among MBU teams for the second straight year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA announced its Scholar Teams list for the 2018-19 school year on Monday with 19 Missouri Baptist programs making the grade. In total 1,939 teams from across the NAIA qualified with team GPAs of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale).

For the second straight year, MBU Tennis recorded the highest team GPAs on both the Men's and Women's side. Women's Tennis led all 19 Spartan squads with a 3.84 team GPA, just a year removed from winning the NAIA's Scholar Team Award in 2017-18. Softball was close behind at 3.79. Men's Tennis finished with a 3.53, highest among MBU's six qualifying male teams.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
