ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist Men's Basketball earned its ninth win of the season on Tuesday night with a 76-64 result over St. Louis College of Pharmacy. MBU improved to 5-3 in the American Midwest Conference.
The Spartans raced out to an early 9-2 advantage and held the lead for all 40 minutes. Mo. Bap asserted its dominance at the defensive end in the opening 20, holding STLCOP to just nine made field goals on 30 attempts. They led by 15 at the intermission.
The Eutectics made a push in the second half and trimmed the deficit all the way down to seven (59-52) with 7:46 to go. But the Spartans countered with a 13-4 run of their own. The knockout punch was a contested corner three from
Jahmouri Robinson as the shot clock expired with 2:04 remaining on the game clock.
Robinson finished the night with 21 points to lead Mo. Bap in scoring.
Brendon Hardy had 17 points to go along with four rebounds.
The Spartans narrowly won the rebound battle 42-39 thanks in large part to junior
Aumonie Armond. The North Little Rock, Ark. native pulled down 12 boards and added a career-high 16 points (7-11 FG) for his third double-double of the season.
Missouri Baptist (9-5, 5-3 AMC) will return home on Thursday looking for their fourth straight win. The Williams Baptist Eagles (4-7, 3-4 AMC) will visit the Petty SRC for a 7:30 tip.
