OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Missouri Baptist Men's Basketball could not carry its momentum from Friday night's second half into Saturday afternoon. The Spartans were beaten handedly by No. 4 William Penn 86-52.
The Statesmen, playing in their season and home opener, looked every bit the better team from the opening tip. They scored 16 of the game's first 20 points and never looked back.
Other than a brief 7-1 stretch near the end of the first half, the Spartans could not find the basket. After making 10-13 three-point attempts in the second half on Friday against Mount Mercy, MBU was shutout on Saturday finishing the night 0-15.
Missouri Baptist is now 3-2 overall and will have a week to get right again before next Saturday's matchup with Missouri Valley. Tip time in Marshall, Mo. is scheduled for 7 pm.
