DAVENPORT, Iowa – Missouri Baptist Men's Basketball fell 75-55 to St. Ambrose on the road on Monday night. The Spartans are now 4-4 overall while SAU stayed unbeaten at 3-0.
As was the case last Wednesday against St. Francis, the Spartans were in good shape after 10 minutes of the opening half. But once again, a cold shooting streak ensued and turned the tide in favor of the home side. A 14-0 run by the Bees gave them a 32-18 lead. The final nine minutes of the first half yielded just five points for the Spartans and they trailed 40-23 at the intermission.
The teams traded baskets back and forth for a majority of the second half and as a result St. Ambrose maintained its double-digit advantage. A bucket by
Tyrell Andrews with 6:14 left briefly made it 57-49 but the Bees responded with an 11-0 run to crush any hopes of a comeback.
The Spartans were led on the stat sheet by
Brendon Hardy (16 points) and
John Yaeger (12 points). Yaeger, the reigning AMC Player of the Week, pulled down eight rebounds as well.
Mo Bap's next scheduled contest is currently January 7 at home against Columbia.
