WIN STREAK HITS DOUBLE-DIGITS AS SPARTANS RACE BY HORNETS

ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist Men's Basketball continued its roll on Saturday with an 87-68 home win over Harris-Stowe (2-17, 1-9 AMC). The victory ran MBU's overall record to 18-4 and AMC record to 10-0.

The Spartans started fast and never gave the Hornets a reason to believe they could pull the upset. It was 16-2 Mobap after five minutes. A Stowe free-throw with 9:49 remaining in the first half made it a nine-point game but that would be the last time the deficit was in single digits.

Missouri Baptist dominated the paint all day but especially in the first half. Of the 52 points the Spartans scored, 36 were converted from inside. The free-throw line was also a popular place to be in the opening 20 as the Spartans went 15-19 from the stripe.

After going into the locker room at halftime with a comfortable 52-26 lead, the home side relented slightly in the second period. Harris-Stowe outscored the Spartans by seven, but the damage had long been done. MBU still eased to a 19-point win, their 10th straight.

John Yaeger and Tyrell Andrews led the MBU scoring efforts with 17 and 15, respectively. Andrews came through with the most complete line of the day finishing with seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

RJ Pair's 13 points and River Reed's 11 were next in line. Reed led the rebounding category with eight, five of which came on the offensive glass.

With six games remaining now in the regular season, the Spartans still hold a two-game lead at the top of the AMC over second-place Columbia. Those two teams will meet next Saturday. Prior to that, Lyon will visit the SRC next Thursday for a 7:30 pm tip.
