SPARTANS FIGHT THROUGH RAIN, THROTTLE BAPTIST BIBLE COLLEGE

OZARK, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist Spartans scored early and often on a rainy Saturday against Baptist Bible College ultimately downing the Patriots 11-1.

Playing their first nine-inning game of the season, the Spartans put runs on the board in every inning except the fourth and seventh. MBU banged out 15 hits in chasing their 11 runs across the plate. On the hill, Billy Heil went the distance for his second victory of the season against one defeat. He was efficient giving up just one run on six hits while striking out seven.

Blayne Yarger had a breakout performance at the plate, going four for six with 3 RBI and four runs scored. Noah Hemphill and Cole Robinson also registered multi-hit games with each getting a double and a single.

The victory improves the tenth-ranked Spartans to 16-3 on the season. The win also secured the series victory for MBU as the team split two games on Friday. Originally the Spartans and Patriots were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but due to the weather forecast the two teams opted to play a single nine-inning game.

On Tuesday the Spartans will host No. 17 Georgetown College for a doubleheader at Spartan Field. The action will get underway at 12:00 p.m.
