ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Baptist University men's wrestling team dominated in a 38-12 victory over Trinidad State College Wednesday evening. The Spartans took eight of the ten bouts slated for the night.
The action started with
Nicholas Keim collecting a forfeit at 184 and a narrow
Blake Johnson victory in the 197 via a 13-12 decision.
Jared Volcic followed up with a first-period pin making his debut at heavyweight.
John Davis had a tough, back-and-forth match but Jay Everheart captured the fall over Davis late in the third at 125.
A familiar face to the home crowd, the eighth-ranked wrestler in the country,
Dillon Witt put on a show with his win by technical fall, shutting out his opponent 15-0 at 133. The new transfers showed up for the Spartans as
Tyler Deen and
Brandon Bollinger claimed technical falls at 141 and 149.
Trinidad State took another hard-fought match at 157 over
Noah Richardson, but
Hunter Song answered back with a technical fall at 165.
Joel Campbell rounded out the night in an 18-17 thriller, aiding the Spartans to a 38-12 victory over the Trinidad State Trojans.
The Spartans head west to Wichita, Kan., to compete at the Falcon Open hosted by Friends University on Saturday, Nov. 2. The first match is slated to start at 9 a.m.
