Campbell Claims Second Conference Weekly Honor of the Season

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Joel Campbell claimed his second conference weekly honor of the season as he was named American Midwest Conference Wrestler of the Week, announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

The New Plymouth, Idaho native's five-win week aided him in winning this award. Campbell's weekly campaign started in Fulton, Mo., last Wednesday as the Spartans claimed their first road dual win of the season over AMC opponent William Woods, where Campbell picked up a major decision that led to the decisive 44-9 dual victory.

Campbell's journey continued in the Peach State when the Spartans competed in the Lucha Open hosted by No. 2 Life University (Ga.). Campbell rattled off four wins on the weekend, where he outscored his opponents 32-17 in those four wins.

This award is Joel Campbell's second weekly honor of the year and third of his career.

Campbell and the rest of the Spartans have a little break before hitting the mat again at the Doane Open hosted by Doane University in Crete, Neb., on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024.
