ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University men's basketball team flipped the script on Evangel University tonight (Dec. 20), defeating the Valor 94-83 after losing 89-76 earlier in the season.
Senior
Breven McMullen led the Spartans in points with 28, scoring 24 of those points from behind the three-point line. He also recorded three rebounds and one assist. Playing calm and collected, he made both his free throws.
MBU's second-leading scorer was
Thai Elder with 27. He was 4-8 on three-pointers, 3-4 on free throws, and 10-15 on field goals. Elder played gritty, grabbing three rebounds as well.
The Spartans' third-leading scorer,
Evan Palmquist, commanded the court and recorded 17 points and five rebounds five throughout the game.
The Spartans' defense held firm as well. Senior
Courtland Soll and junior
Taiden Conner both picked up six rebounds, denying the Valor many second chances.
Lewis and Palmquist also each recorded a block.
Missouri Baptist advances to be 5-8 on the season, and 3-1 in the American Midwest Conference. They play again on Dec. 31 at 2:00 PM against the New College of Florida.
