MBU Stands Firm in IWU Titan Open

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Spartans on the men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Illinois Wesleyan University Titan Open on Saturday (Feb. 10) where they fought to keep Missouri Baptist University's name listed high in the meet's rankings.
The men's team performed exceptionally well in the mile run against 47 other opponents:
McCallister set a new personal record with this mile time (prev. 4:55.57).
Denslow and Patten, along with Austin Tilley and Ethan Bliss, also took 6th place out of 14 in the men's 4x400 relay. They ran a time of 3:39.30.
Sophomore Josiah Heras (53.82) earned 16th place out of 44 in the men's 400 meter, and senior Brayden Bauman (7.41) finished 24th out of 62 in the men's 60 meter dash.
In the men's long jump, Brandin Dodd landed at 6.21 meters, taking 12th place among 26 competitors. This was the first long jump Dodd has recorded in his collegiate career.
Colin Hutson found success in both the men's shot put and weight throw. He finished 7th (13.30 m) in the shot put, and 8th (14.49 m) in the weight throw, setting a new PR in the weight throw as well.
Warren Gann (11.94 m) landed at 17th place out of 33 in the men's shot put.
On the women's side, Lillian Harris (5:59.73) hit a PR in the mile run and took 9th place out of 33. Her previous record was 6:02.41.
Sophomore Mattie Noyes (2:32.90) also finished 9th out of 29 runners in the women's 800.
Julianne Hansen participated in two events: the women's 60 meter dash and 200 meter run. In the 60 meter, Hansen earned 13th out of 27 with a time of 8.52, and in the 200 meter, she took 15th out of 39 with a time of 27.84.
The Spartans will compete at the AMC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 17 at Principia College where they hope to bring home some first place accolades.
