ST.LOUIS—The American Midwest Conference announced Monday afternoon that Daryl Mills has been named wrestler of the week for the third time this season.

Mills claimed this honor after a fourth-place finish at the highly competitive Missouri Valley Invite. 

After Mills started hot, he picked up a technical fall and a decisive 11-5 victory to propel him into the quarterfinals. Mills would claim three consecutive backside victories en route to his spot in the third-place bout, which included a 5-3 win over the no. 10 ranked wrestler from the University of Saint Mary (Kan.). 

This award is the third time Mills has won the weekly award this season and the fifth of his career. A Spartan has won this weekly award seven out of the ten weeks this season. 

Mills and the rest of the Spartans will compete in Marshall, Mo., again this weekend in the Missouri Valley Open. Wrestling starts at 10 a.m.
