KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Baptist University men's wrestling team enters the first poll of the season at No. 22 . This achievement marks the first time since the preseason poll of the 2018-19 season that the Spartans have a ranking next to their name, and the first time since the 2013-14 season that the Spartans were ranked in a regular-season poll.
The team's ranking was aided by four grapplers who found spots within the top 25 of their respective weight classes:
Geno Cardenas (8th at 125),
Daryl Mills (10th at 141),
Joel Campbell (14th at 174), and
Amad Soufi (23rd at 285).
This is also the first time under fourth-year Head Coach
Caleb McElfresh that the Spartans are ranked.
"As exciting as this is, my guys know this isn't the goal," said McElfresh. "It just shows that the work they are putting in and the belief they have in this program is paying off. As a coach, it's been awesome to see the growth of this program, but this is just a stepping stone and not a destination. Now we get back to work and look to continue the climb."
The Spartans host the 13th-ranked Central Methodist University Eagles this evening, November 6, 2025, at home in the Carl and Deloris Petty SRC. Wrestling to commence at 7 p.m.
