ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University had 11 student-athletes that were selected to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® At-Large Teams on Tuesday (June 17). MBU women's lacrosse and men's volleyball led the way with each having four selected; men's lacrosse, women's golf, and men's golf each had one.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Men's & Women's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Mack Miller, Lydia Cornett, Emily Goewert, and Delaney Pechnik were all selected from the MBU women's lacrosse team. Cornett is making her second appearance on the all-district squad after a selection to the CSC Academic All-America® Women's At-Large Team last season.
Cornett also earned NAIA First Team All-American for the second time in her career and First Team Heart of America Athletic Conference. Miller received the honors for the first time in her career and added to her list of awards that include NAIA Second Team All-American and First Team All-Conference.
Joining them are sophomores Goewert and Pechnik. Pechnik earned Second Team All-Conference and NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete for the first time in her career this season. Goewert also earned NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete for the first time this season and started in every game this year.
From the men's volleyball program were Michael Anderson, Marko Jovanovic, David Rudic, and Alex Seyer. Anderson is making his second appearance on the all-district team after earning honorable mention in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Jovanovic is also making his second appearance on the all-district team this season. He was able to add to his impressive award list including NAIA First Team All-American, HEART Attacker of the Year, and First Team All-Conference. Rudic received this honor for the first time in his career but also added it to his amazing list of awards throughout the season. Rudic earned NAIA First Team All-American, HEART Setter of the Year, and First Team All-Conference. Seyer was also able to earn this distinction for the first time in his career. He lead the team in digs with 289 and in digs per set at 2.60. The libero was also recognized as an NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete this season.
Chelsea Young from women's golf and Drew Chiodini from men's lacrosse earned the honor for the first time in their careers. Young and Chiodini both earned NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete this season. Young had a 96.3 scoring average and contributed to a tournament win at the Central Baptist College Fall Invite on Oct. 7-8. Chiodini had a .491 shots on goal percentage and had 19 points in 15 games this season.
Luke Gardner was also selected posting a 75.5 scoring average including an individual win at the conference clash at Rend Lake on April 1st.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. The NCAA and NAIA Women's At-Large Academic All-America® First-, second-, and third-team honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 8, 2024, with the men's announcement following on Wednesday, July 9.
