ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University women's tennis fell 5–2 to Maryville University on Friday at Vetta West Racquet Sports, moving to 2–3 on the season.
The Spartans opened the match by claiming the doubles point, winning two of the three contests. Missouri Baptist earned victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while Maryville picked up the win at No. 3.
In singles play, Maryville responded by winning five of six matches to secure the team victory.
The Spartans' lone singles win came at No. 5, where Melissa Jangarasheva battled to a three-set victory, clinching the match with a 10–5 win in the third-set tiebreak.
