Don Griffin 2025

Don Griffin

Following the departure of longtime head bowling coach Steve Solovic, the Missouri Baptist University Department of Athletics wasted little time in naming the successor. In May 2019, the promotion of Don Griffin to Head Men’s & Women’s Bowling Coach was announced.

Griffin served as the Spartans’ assistant coach for two seasons from 2017-2019. On the coaching front, he completed both his Level 1 Coaching Certification and Bronze Level Coaching Certification through the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). Since 2003, he has been an active member of the St. Louis USBC Board of Directors and regularly serves on committees. From 2012-2014, Griffin was a Special Olympics bowling coach and received a Special Ambassador Award in 2013. Additionally, Griffin has owned, operated, and coached at Trio Bowlers Supply (2007-2017) and Concord Bowl Pro Shop (2017-present).

Griffin also sports an equally impressive resume as a bowler. In 2007, he received a special recognition award with the fourth-highest sanctioned average on the Missouri USBC all-time list at 255.7 per game. He is an eight-time St. Louis USBC Bowler of the Year and was honored in 2008 as the Missouri State USBC Bowler of the Year. Griffin, who was inducted into the St. Louis USBC Hall of Fame (2007) and the Missouri State USBC Hall of Fame (2009), continues to be one of the area’s top bowlers.
