MBU Athletics

William DeCraene was announced as the Missouri Baptist University Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer in June 2024.

DeCraene came to St. Louis after spending over two years at Ascension Texas where he was the Athletic Trainer at NCAA Division II school St. Edwards University and the Head Athletic Trainer for the Austin Gilgronis Major League Rugby Club. After the 2022-23 season at St. Edwards, he and the staff were awarded the Lone Star Conference Staff of the Year.

Before his time at Ascension, DeCraene spent over six years at Texas State University. He began as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2015 before moving into a full-time position where he worked with the track & field, cross country, golf, and football programs. He also spent a stint as the Interim Head Football Athletic Trainer where he was the only full-time staff member covering the NCAA Division I football program while they transitioned to a new coaching staff.

DeCraene graduated from Carthage College with a bachelor’s in athletic training in 2015 and from Texas State University with a master’s in athletic training in 2017.
