Jake Alvernia

2025 will be Jake Alvernia’s 13th season as Head Coach of Missouri Baptist Men’s Soccer. Under Alvernia’s guidance, the Spartans have qualified for the AMC postseason tournament 11 times in the past 12 seasons. In 2018, Missouri Baptist qualified for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round for the first time after winning the AMC Postseason Championship game in overtime against Lyon College. In a split 2020-21 season, the Spartans made a return trip to the Opening Round after finishing runner-up in the AMC postseason tournament. Alvernia was named AMC Co-Coach of the Year for the first time. 
 
Alvernia played locally for McCluer High School, where he was named to the First Team All-Conference as well as the North All-Star Team in 1991. He played one season for the University of Missouri-St. Louis at the NCAA DII level before transferring to Missouri Baptist where he competed for two more seasons in 1995 and 96.
 
Alvernia and his wife Carrie reside in St. Louis with their four children. They attend Calvary Church in St. Peters, Mo.
