Women's Basketball Escapes with Victory
The Missouri Baptist University women's basketball team escaped with a 82-78 victory Tuesday night at William Woods University (Fulton, Mo.). The Lady Spartans trailed the Lady Owls much of the second half, but three 3-pointers by MBU's Nikia Henry late in the game proved to provide the spark Missouri Baptist needed to gain the lead.
The win improves MBU to 2-1 in the American Midwest Conference and 7-9 overall. Nikia Henry led the Lady Spartans with 30 points. Julie Leach added 20 points and 14 rebounds and April Redus and Summer McCaughley each scored 11.
The Lady Spartans will be back in action on Saturday at AMC rival McKendree University (3-0, 10-7) at 2 p.m.
