The MBU women's volleyball team found its only success on the road this week. The Lady Spartans failed to win at home in three attempts. The Lady Spartans are now 11-15 overall, 5-4 in the American Midwest Conference.
MBU started the week with an AMC loss to William Woods University in Muncy Gymnasium on Monday. The Lady Owls took the games 25-19, 25-19, 25-21. The Lady Spartans then traveled to Columbia, Mo. on Wednesday, where they took a five-game AMC win over Stephens College. The Lady Spartans edged the Stars 29-31, 25-16, 25-19, 23-25, 15-12.
The Lady Spartans closed the week in Muncy Gymnasium on Thursday. Missouri Baptist hosted a tri-match with AMC opponent Columbia College and Carroll College (Montana). The Lady Spartans first faced Columbia College, for the third time this season. MBU managed to take a game on the Lady Cougars for the first time in the three outings. Columbia, ranked fourth in the NAIA would sacrifice just game two, as they won the match 25-20, 24-26, 25-14, 25-16. Visiting Carroll College made quick work of the Lady Spartans in the night cap, winning in three games; 25-16, 25-17, 25-15.
The Lady Spartans will return to AMC play on Tuesday, October 12th, when they travel locally to Harris-Stowe State University for back-to-back matches. They will then face McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill. on Thursday, before putting in a full weekend at a tournament hosted by Lindenwood University this weekend.
