The MBU women's basketball team improved to 3-0 with an 81-66 non-conference win over Culver-Stockton College at home on Thursday. The Lady Spartans then welcomed back alumni on Saturday for an Alumni Game as part of Homecoming festivities.
In Thursday's contest, five Lady Spartans scored in double digits. MBU senior guard
Megan Payton and junior forward
Ashley Johnson led all scorers with 19 points. Payton also contributed 10 rebounds and 3 assists, while Johnson pulled down nine boards. Also scoring in double digits for MBU were junior guard
Meagan Price (19 points), Junior forward
Jessica Moore (12 points), and sophomore guard
Andrea Seabaugh (10 points).
The Lady Spartans shot 42.6% from the field, 44.4% from behind the arc, and a dismal 54.3% from the charity stripe. They were outrebounded by CSC 51-48, but forced 31 Wildcat turnovers. .
MBU hosted its second annual Alumni Game on Saturday, in the midst of Homecoming activities. The Lady Spartan alumni were coached by Danielle (Mumm) Rampley ('06), and featured Meagan Brown ('07), Holly Tichy ('06) and
Julie Leach ('09).
The Lady Spartans will travel to local NAIA rival Lindenwood University on Wednesday, for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. They will host NCAA Division III Heidelberg College (Ohio) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
