The MBU women's basketball team opened its season with two home wins last week. The Lady Spartans beat St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Wednesday and Calumet College of St. Joseph's on Saturday.
On Wednesday, the Lady Spartans easily defeated the Lady Eutectics 105-38 in their season opener. Five MBU players scored in double digits. Junior forwards
Jessica Moore and
Ashley Johnson both led all scorers with 21 points each. MBU sophomore guard
Andrea Seabaugh scored 17 points, junior
Megan Payton scored 15 points, and junior
Meagan Price scored 12 points. The Lady Spartans shot 61% from the field, but just 53% from the free-throw line (9-for-17). They outrebounded STLCOP 37 to 17.
MBU kicked off Homecoming week on Sunday with an 83-54 win over Calumet College of St. Joseph's. The Lady Spartans had four players score in double digits.
Ashley Johnson again led all scorers with 19 points and also pulled down 19 boards. Payton scored 17 points, Moore scored 14 points, and Price scored 13 points.
