The MBU women's volleyball team improved to 5-8 overall, picking up a pair of wins and a loss, as they opened American Midwest Conference play last week.
On Tuesday, the Lady Spartans lost to Columbia College for the second time this season, (the first time in AMC play). The Lady Cougars handled the Lady Spartans in three: 25-22, 25-19, 15-14. The Lady Spartans bounced back from the loss on Thursday, picking up a road win at Stephens College. MBU won the match in three games; 25-20, 25-22, 25-21. The Lady Spartans hosted William Woods University in their first home match of the year on Saturday. They again picked up the win in three games, taking the set 25-10, 25-13, 25-22.
With a 2-1 start in the AMC, the Lady Spartans will face two more conference opponents this week, traveling to Hannibal-LaGrange College on Monday and Park University on Friday. MBU will then travel to non-conference opponent Central Methodist University to close out the week on Saturday.
