The MBU women's volleyball team managed to walk away from the Columbia College Best Western Classic with just one win over some top ranked NAIA teams this weekend.
The Lady Spartans opened play on Friday afternoon with a loss to #14 Lindenwood University. LU took the match in four games, winning 25-18,25-20,27-29,25-15. MBU tried to rebound from the loss to face defending AMC Champion and 6th ranked Columbia College. The Lady Cougars took the match in three quick games, beating the Lady Spartans 25-14, 25-15, 25-12.
MBU picked up its lone win on Saturday morning, battling with Bryan College to take the decision in five games; 16-25,25-17,24-26,25-23,10-15. Play concluded for the Lady Spartans with a four game loss to Savannah College of Art & Design. SCAD took the contest 12-25,25-11,25-22,29-27.
Earning All-Tournament honors for MBU were sophomore middle blockers
Megan Moore (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville H.S.) and
Jessica Bowman (Greenfield, Ill./Greenfield H.S.).
The Lady Spartans, now 2-4, will travel to Marshall, Mo. to face Missouri Valley College on September 8th.
