The Lady Spartan basketball team improved to 13-8 overall, 5-4 in the AMC, with a thrilling 75-74 double overtime victory over Park University at home on Thursday. The Lady Spartans have now played three overtime periods in their last two games.
MBU trailed 38-37 at the half, and the second half proved to be more of the same as the score see-sawed back and forth for the final 20 minutes of regulation.With the score tied at 65-65, MBU's
Tammy Thomas took what looked to be the game winning shot in the waning seconds of regulation.Her shot sailed long, but MBU's
Ashley Johnson pulled down the rebound & was fouled with 1.4 seconds to play in regulation.With the score knotted at 65-65, Johnson missed both free-throws & the game saw its first overtime.
MBU trailed by four points with 40 seconds remaining in the first overtime when MBU's
Andrea Seabaugh hit a key three-pointer to pull the MBU deficit to one point.MBU got a defensive stop and the ball back for an attempt at the win. MBU's Seabaugh was fouled on her game winning shot attempt.Seabaugh went to the line with the Lady Spartans down 69-68 with 4.1 seconds remaining in the first overtime.Seabaugh calmly sank the first of two free throws to tie the score, but missed the second for the win, and the game saw its second overtime.
With 17 seconds remaining in the second overtime and a 75-74 MBU lead, MBU's
Ashley Johnson sealed the win for MBU with a steal before the Lady Pirates could get a shot up in the closing seconds.

Jessica Moore's 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Ashley Johnson scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Lady Spartans, and
Andrea Seabaugh netted 17 points, with four three-pointers, for MBU in the win.
MBU will travel to American Midwest Conference foe Stephens College on Saturday, February 6
th. Tip off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
