The MBU women's basketball team has advanced to the semifinal round of the 2010 American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Tournament. The fourth seed Lady Spartans defeated the fifth seed Hannibal-LaGrange College 77-65 in AMC Quarterfinal action in Muncy Gymnasium Thursday night to advance in tournament play.

With the victory, the Lady Spartans recorded a 3-0 sweep of HLG this season. Five Lady Spartans scored in double digits. Leading the way was junior forward Jessica Moore, who scored 17 points, stepping out to hit two from behind the arc, and nabbing a game high nine rebounds. Also in double digits for MBU were sophomore guard Andrea Seabaugh with 15 points (3 three-pointers), junior forward Ashley Johnson with 14 points, junior guard Meagan Price with 10 points, and junior forward Tammy Thomas with 10 points.

Leading the scoring for Hannibal was Kayla Hruby, who scored a game high 19 points.

The Lady Spartans will now face number one tournament seed William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. The NAIA's 15th ranked WWU has bested MBU in two match-ups so far this season. The winner of Friday night's contest will face the winner of the Friday match-up between number two seed Columbia College and number six seed Williams Baptist College on Monday night.
