SPARTANS STING HORNETS IN CONSECUTIVE MATCHES

St. Louis, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball squad continued its impressive season on Monday night, beating the Harris Stowe Hornets in consecutive matches (and straight sets) 25-9, 25-8, 25-6 (Game one) and 25-4, 25-9, and 25-13 (Game two).

MBU entered Monday evening's contests feeling good after two wins over the weekend. After a big victory against Missouri Valley College on Friday, the team was on the good side of an unexpected forfeit due to injury over Stephens College.

In the first match, MBU played up to expectations. Sara Mohesky played fantastic defense, recording 16 digs , while Madeline Nesbit led the offense. Nesbit, a 6' sophomore had 10 kills and five aces on the evening.

In the second match, Missouri Baptist again looked dominant. Mohesky notched 10 kills and six aces. Molly DeClue was the star on defense for the Spartans. The freshman recorded 15 digs, continuing her big rookie campaign.

Harris Stowe continues to battle through an extremely difficult season in which it is still searching for a victory. Just over a week ago against St. Louis College of Pharmacy, the team came one set short of its first victory, in a five-set loss on the road. The team will have a chance to avenge the loss on Wednesday at home in a rematch between the two clubs.

Missouri Baptist, on the other hand, improved to 27-3 on the season as it hopes to get an at-large bid to the NAIA national tournament.
