SPARTAN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LOSE ON ROAD TO VIKINGS

Marshall, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist women's basketball team headed on the road to Missouri Valley College looking for its first win on the year. The team was unable to catch up to the Vikings lead as they fell 72-58. 
 
The Spartans headed into the game knowing it was going to be tough to win on the road against Missouri Valley College. In the first half, Missouri Baptist only lead came in the beginning of the game when they led 1-0. The Vikings took the lead in the 19th minute and held on the rest of the half with their biggest lead being 19-10. 
 
The team didn't give up though as they went on a 21-16 run to get back into the game at half only down 35-31. Both teams shot 40% in the first half and each team was 50% from the three point line. MBU's Kayla Tisza led the team in points with 10. 
 
In the second half, the Spartans continued to try and catch up. However, Missouri Valley continued to make shots to extend their lead, with their biggest of the half being 13. Missouri Baptist got the game close with five minutes left only being down 63-56. That was as close as the team would get as the Spartans fell 72-58. 
 
The statistics in the second half were close again. The Vikings shout 48% from the field while the Spartans shot 43%. Missouri Valley outrebounded MBU 46-26 in the game. 
 
Missouri Baptist was led by Lauren Taylor and Kayla Tisza who each had 10 points in the game. 
 
The team's record falls to 0-2 on the early season and will look to grab their first win on the season on the road against Ashford University on November 15th at 5:30 p.m.
