Columbia, Mo. - The American Midwest Conference announced the All-Conference award winners on Sunday and Missouri Baptist picked-up several honors.
The Spartans had three ladies named to the All-Conference First Team. Seniors Casey Chernin, Lauren Stuckel and Tracey Abell were the recipients from MBU, while seniors Jessica Bowman and Megan Moore, along with freshman Molly DeClue, were honorable mentions.
The conference accolades did not end there. Stuckel was also named newcomer of the year for the big season she had as one of the top setters in the NAIA. This season, Stuckel accumulated 1,159 assists, ranking her 28th among all setters. She also ranks 11th in service aces with 63 on the season.
Spartan youngster Molly DeClue also picked-up some much-deserved recognition. DeClue was named AMC Freshman of the Year for her outstanding season where she recorded 189 kills and a .262 hitting percentage. DeClue was good enough to find a starting spot on a top 25-ranked team this season that started several talented seniors.
As the players received much praise for a fantastic season, head coach John Yehling was also recognized for his work as one of two AMC Coaches of the Year. Yehling, who shares the honor with Columbia College coach, Melinda Wrye-Washington.
Coach Yehling led his team to a 32-4 record and one of the best records in the NAIA this season.
