St. Louis, Mo. - Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball came out of the gate strong against Stephens College on Tuesday and finished with a three set sweep in the first round of the AMC Championship Tournament 25-6, 25-12 and 25-14.
Missouri Baptist aimed its sights on a conference championship on Tuesday and took the first step with a lopsided victory. MBU's Molly DeClue and Megan Moore led their team to the victory, combining for 15 kills.
Tuesday evening's match came on the heels of the announcement of the new NAIA Volleyball Coaches Poll, which dropped the Spartans after a loss to Lindenwood University last week in the regular season finale. This announcement, coupled with senior Lauren Stuckel being named the AMC Volleyball Player of the Week seemed to spur the team to victory. Stuckel had 29 assists on the night
The Spartans will be back in action on Thursday evening at home in the AMC Championship semifinals. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.
